The painting "Girl looking at the Moon" was made by Roberto Maria Anselmi with the technique of micromosaic yarn, decorated with precious Venetian glass paste tesserae cut with a hammer and a knife and then spun at 800 degrees, as per ancient Roman tradition.

Roberto Maria Anselmi

Master mosaicist, son of the famous Roman poet Giovanni Anselmi, he was born in Rome. After successfully completing his studies at the Art Institute, he was introduced to mosaic art by his brother Odoardo and began to work at the Vatican Mosaic Studio. Here he remained 41 years creating and repairing ancient mosaics for the four Major Basilicas of Rome. He began his artistic experience at the Roman Mosaicists Cooperation, participating in the creation of the mosaics of the EUR district and the Foro Italico in Rome. He worked in the Galassi Studio in Valle Giulia and began to realise important works such as Via Crucis in Cortona (Umbria) on Gino Severini's cartoons. He also worked on M. Mazzacurati's cartoons, the mosaic of the apse inside the Regina Pacis church, the mosaics of Santa Teresa Church in Corso d'Italia, Rome, and collaborated with many other famous mosaicists. Anselmi had a long collaboration with Mondo Cattolico Art Gallery, where his works are still exhibited. He is considered among the most famous mosaicists in the world. His works can be found both in Italy and in many countries, such as Mexico, Canada, the United States, Brazil, Ireland, Sweden, Finland and others. Roberto Maria Anselmi died in 2011.
